Bandwidth Extension
Coming soon. Bandwidth Extension is in development and will be available in a future release of Hermes.
What it is
Bandwidth Extension reconstructs higher-frequency content in narrowband or band-limited speech. For example, audio captured over a phone line (8 kHz) that you want to play back at a wider band for natural-sounding human listening.
Who it's for
Teams shipping voice products that ingest narrowband audio (telephony, low-bitrate codecs, older recording sources) and present that audio back to humans: call summaries, voice messaging, voicemail, or any playback experience where the source bandwidth is a quality bottleneck.
What we'll publish here
When Bandwidth Extension ships, this page will cover:
- The configuration shape inside the Hermes enhancer config.
- How Bandwidth Extension interacts with Noise Cancellation and Voice Boost.
- A complete example matching the format used in the Examples page.
- Evaluation guidance. Bandwidth Extension is a Hermes feature, so its evaluation is listener-based, not WER-based.
